I am a PADI Divemaster, and I volunteer as a research coordinator for two Silmar Project research stations near L'Escala because I am passionate about marine conservation. I carry out marine research with other volunteer divers who come for several weeks or months to help gather data, during the months of May to October. Diving here daily, for six months every year, over the past 15 years I have logged over 3,500 dives. I have also dived the Red Sea many times, Lundy Island (UK) once, and the Maldives. One of my favourite places to dive on the Costa Brava is the Medes Islands marine reserve. As well as the Silmar Project, I share my underwater observations with GROC, a Catalan group investigating Opistobranchs, and Sea Observers, a Barcelona University group of marine scientists. Becoming a volunteer research diver has given me the perfect reason to keep diving and practicing underwater photography, whilst helping to monitor coastal biodiversity. Come and join me!
